"In a completely different and totally idiosyncratic style were the wines of Domaine Economou. Giannis Economou, permanently smiling, worked in Germany, Piemonte and at Château Margaux after his training in Milan. Since 1994 he has been making red wines that are designed to be bottle aged. His 1999 Sitia (Sitia, on the far eastern tip of Crete, is Giannis's place of birth and the name of the appellation), based on the local Liatiko variety, for example, has not yet been released. The 2001 has sold out. The wine itself, not the market, dictates the release date. The 2000 bore a strong resemblance to a pretty decent burgundy and the 1999 was wonderfully scented in a Nebbiolo sort of way. "

Στο περιοδικό Status, τεύχος Απριλίου, δημοσιεύθηκε ένα πολύ ενδιαφέρον άρθρο απο τον Κο Κωνσταντίνο Λαζαράκη MW, με τίτλο "Το κρασί εάλω;"
